As the hairs on the back of his neck prickle, he searches his thoughts for anything that he might have done to piss off this particular ray of sunshine in his life. The last thing he even remembers is- ah. That's right. He asked him to check in on the cats, didn't he? It doesn't do much to calm his nerves- not when he's already so rattled- but at least he knows that he won't have trouble waiting for him when he walks into that living room.
Anyway, it sounds like trouble's going to meet him half-way. Out of the corner of his eye, he spots Kira in the doorway- and then, in a blur of soft fur, Hot Space. There are so many questions he should be asking right now and, though he can brush off that first comment as a casual joke, he's left even more confused with what Kira says next. By his standards, it's almost gentle and, from anyone else, it might even sound concerned. But he knows that can't be true. They might have collected an uncomfortable amount of shared experiences here but...]

[When Josuke straightens up, he's holding both cats in his arms and his face partially obscured by Hot Space as the cat rubs his head across his hair. Probably a good thing. He doesn't know quite where to look and the confusion probably shows regardless of how much or how little Kira can see of his expression.
With his head down, he edges past Kira and into the kitchen. It's only now that he's here and starting to focus that he's noticing all of the subtle changes. Plates organised by the sink. Tea towel folded into a perfect square on the tabletop.
