An elegant café experience

The Kit-Tea-Kat is a twilight to dawn café run by Kira Yoshikage in downtown Bavan. You can enjoy all the expectations of a local coffee shop while experiencing the comfort of home. The first café was opened in Taiwan and has since become a huge hit in Asia. This luxury is now available to the residents of Ryslig, both monster and human alike.

What is a cat café exactly, you ask? Well, it's quite simple. You drink your tea and have a lovely warm meal while in the company of wonderful animals that may entertain you with their natural kitty antics or perhaps spend the hour by your side. Here at the Kit-Tea-Kat café you'll find a wonderful dining experience as well as comfort. We truly hope you enjoy yourself at our cozy little café

While this is a monster run establishment we do not serve anything but genuine food here. And so that no food goes to waste at the end of each work day we will offer up leftovers of the day to hungry monsters and humans alike. Getting started here is no easy thing and we here at Kit-Tea-Kat understand.

( Dinner ) Dinner is from 6 pm to 11 pm every night. Our dinners are light but warm. We can make a wide variety of soups. As well as quiches, casseroles and salads.	( Lunch ) Lunch is served froom 11 pm to 2 am and offers an array of light and warm sandwiches offering a wide variety of meats and vegetables as well as breads. Sandwiches can be served cold or warmed depending on the guest's request.


( Breakfast ) Breakfast is served from 2 am till 6am and all kinds of dishes are served. Pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage. You simply have to name the item and it can be made for you. This is our guarantee.	( Desserts ) Desserts are served all day long. We have a wide variety of cakes, pies, muffins, cupcakes, cookies, and many others. All freshly baked daily. If we do not have what you're looking for at the time we can make it fresh, so long as you're willing to wait.


( Drinks ) We have several different brews of coffee as well as fresh tea leaves. Simply ask to see what we have in stock. We also make cappuccinos, lattes and many other modern day drinks. Along side tea and coffee there is juice, milk and hot chocolate. We do not sell alcohol. I got your message a little late. [He brushes back a curl and sips at his tea. He should be telling his story a little quicker in case Josuke kicks him out. He doesn't want to walk back home in the sun...] I was busy being a corpse outside my café. That's some messy business... [That's an understatement really.]

So when I got your message your designated time of replying back had come and gone... I checked to make sure you were home before entering completely, just in case you forgot but you were not here and had not been here. So I assumed what you'd consider the worst. That's what you were expecting when you sent me that message, yes? Even when you do... it doesn't get easier. [Four deaths for him. Three in Ryslig... and now each death eats away at memories. He wonders what he's lost... and how important it is.] Ah, but to answer the question. I arrived on the eleventh, quite late. And I was intending to leave, tonight. And then I was going to periodically check every couple of days. So the seventeenth then the nineteenth and so on. If you didn't come back after a month or so... I was just going to take the cats back to the café. That was my plan, anyway... in case the worst should come to pass. With all the death in the air more and more people might not come back.

[Another small sip of tea as he turns to watch Josuke inspect his freshly cleaned and organized apartment. Nice, right?] Do you want me to leave...? [The answer is obviously a yes. He should be grabbing his jacket and putting on his shoes right now. And he'll need a bit of hustle in his steps to beat the sun. But he doesn't. He looms in the doorway to the living room, watching the teen carefully. It feels like there is more to be said. He's come here all three times after just reviving now, hasn't he. And Josuke has been present for two of them... And somehow it has made things a bit easier. Even if Josuke probably doesn't agree with how undeserved he feels those deaths are he never says as much. And if Josuke deserved to die or not doesn't really matter. It helps when someone is here for it. Even if you hate that person it's at least someone.

But perhaps for Josuke the cats are enough and his friends are enough and that's fine with Kira. He can leave at anytime. The cats are fine and that's all he was here for. He owes Josuke absolutely nothing.]

[It's the first time Marco has come here since Kira was asleep for a month, but this time, he looks significantly... well... angrier, kind of. There's something clouding that fury, too - exhaustion, maybe? Either way, he's looked better.

And those tired, angry eyes are trying to home in on Kira right now.

A human customer looks at him funny. Marco looks back at him, glances around awkwardly, and does his best to assume a calmer posture. It doesn't really work - now he just looks like he's trying not to scream.]

[To be fair, Kira has seen better days too. His own head was blown off by his own Sheer Heart Attack after being repeatedly stabbed and just obliterated physically by some stupid vampire. He followed that up by sleeping on Josuke's uncomfortable and filthy couch the past few days. That does nothing for one's appearance.

Still, he's well enough to be his usual unpleasant self. Especially when he sees Marco in a seething grumpy state.]

Evangelisti Marco... what a pleasant surprise. You've come at a good time. I have pieces of your snake in the cellar. Mitsuhide was trying to make me some sort of vile snakeskin jacket out of him. But I'd prefer if you just take that mess with you.

[Oh. Well, it's nice to know that he's not the only one who's spent some time six feet under this month; this whole mess must have taken more than a few lives and he still doesn't even really understand what it's all about. Conduits. Corruption. It's all buzz words with little meaning and he doesn't care enough to investigate further or ask about how exactly Kira died.

... it doesn't get easier.

For a few moments, all he can do is watch him with a crumpled brow.]

We're not very good at being enemies, are we?

[It's really all he can think to say at first and it's only afterwards that he realises that Kira asked him a question too and his frown deepens again.]

I... I'll head out to Rohan's this evening but maybe...

[... maybe it'll be easier to have someone around. The first time he had died, he'd been able to come back to a busy household and his boisterous father and the thought of sitting around here for the next twelve hours by himself isn't a pleasant one. But he doesn't say it out loud. Instead, Josuke simply shrugs his shoulders and passes the two cats over to him.]

... I'm gonna have a shower. Do whatever you want.

I would say not. [They're actually really bad at it. But it's better that way. Spending their days fighting each other is exhausting and he's glad that's not happening. Perhaps it'd be better to ignore one another but as he said far back in the beginning, Josuke is the only person he "knows". They share a lot so it's only natural to be drawn to one another especially in a place like this.

What's that saying they kept using in Morioh? Stand users are drawn to stand users... Here, with or without stands, probably wouldn't be any different.

Oh but! He takes the arm full of cats feeling nothing but confusion. Do whatever he wants. ????? What? Why?

He will say that this Josuke is much more agreeable but also quite disconcerting. Not that he wants Josuke to be his usual self, he doesn't like that self. The constant pain in the ass with quips but perhaps it's preferred to the downtrodden and very sad teenager.

Money is quick to hop out of his arms and make an attempt to follow Josuke. Hot Space on the other hand is content to stay in his arms for now, looking up at him expectedly. What are you going to do now, Kira?]

Tsk. Fine. [He's not a man that likes to be indebted to others. And he can admit that Josuke probably did help a lot when he came back to life both times. Things could have gotten incredibly ugly that first time and he kept his grief and starved mind in check. It would be discourteous to just leave it like this. He can admit that much.

He lets Hot Space squeeze himself between his shoulder spikes and neck as he moves around the kitchen. He's restocked everything and actually put good food in here so he might as well use it. It'll probably just go to waste otherwise, right? Or be made into poor quality food.

Now, normally he makes a dinner like meal at this time butt if they were human and existed in a normal time frame now would be breakfast time. Eggs and bacon... sausage too. Oh and hashbrowns and toast. Very comforting and good. A perfect meal after one too many glasses of wine the night before. Or an incredibly traumatic death.

He was serious when he said Josuke should eat. Food and then sleep. Eating on a full stomach is never advised but after something like this there can be exceptions.

Hot Space let's out a long meow at Kira, right in his ear.] Yes, I know. [He gives the cat a very small bit of cooling bacon.] You're missing out now that you're living over here. Well, I got this house fish so maybe he'll take a hint, hm?

[Well, at any rate when Josuke comes back breakfast or... dinner, whatever, will be served.]

[Up until Kira finished opening and closing his mouth, Marco's plan was this: he would walk up to Kira, quietly request to see him in an empty room, away from his customers, and punch him in the face.

The plan has changed.

Without saying a word, Marco stomps on forward - a misplaced chair in his way is noisily dragged off to the side - and throws a strong punch at Kira's face, metal hand and all.]

[It isn't long before the sound of the shower in the bathroom at the other end of the hall fills the apartment. It might have been a little easier if Money hadn't insisted on coming in with him but the kitten seems eager enough to stay by Josuke's side that getting wet doesn't bother him too much. It's only when he reaches for the shampoo that Josuke scoops him up and transfers him into the sink, pausing the water's rush just long enough for him to hear Kira in the kitchen.

While he's having a shower, a serial killer is making him dinner. This is not the situation he expected to come home to and, if his head were in a better way, he might been more amused or bewildered or both by it. As things stand, it's an effort just to not get soap suds in his eyes as he rinses his hair out, let alone sort through the increasingly complicated mess of their relationship.

When he finally re-emerges, he's dressed in loose pants and the oversized sweater Kira might recognise from Christmas and has Money tucked against his chest in a towel. More unusually, his hair has been brushed straight back and held in place with a headband. It's happened. He's turned into his mother. Sartorial decisions aside, he's just in time to see Kira feeding Hot Space a piece of bacon.]

Hey, they eat better than me some days.

[Kira turns to look at Josuke who looks... well... not super great in any sense of the word. Perhaps he'll keep his scathing remark about dumpsters and coming out of them to himself.]

I should hope so. Anyway... here. [He hands Josuke the plate which has: fluffy eggs, crisp bacon, a few links of sausages, salted hash browns and toast. This isn't a hard breakfast to make by any means but for what it's worth, Kira cooks nearly every day for people so at the very least it's going to be quite delicious. Which is why he made himself a small plate too despite the fact he wanted to be in bed... well over a half hour ago.] Eat. [Hot Space makes a "subtle" paw reach, claws extended, for one of Josuke's pieces of bacon. He wants.]

And there's Chamomile tea. [Which will help Josuke sleep because the nightmares after dying are very real and very awful. At least, in his experience. Even now, on his third death, it hasn't changed. It always will be incredibly awful.]

You're not going to feel better tomorrow or even the day after but you can at least do the small self care things. Which... at this point is just doing the basics. Sleeping well and eating. But don't forget to go hunting tomorrow. Bacon doesn't stop monster hunger which is how we know we're truly living in hell.

[He never really thought that Marco would actually strike him. He was fairly certain this squid was someone he could just say whatever he pleased to and regardless of the contents Marco would just take it. He was that kind of person.

Apparently not quite...

It's a hard hit and there is concern that it might knock his sharp teeth out. The blow staggers the blond for a moment and forces the internal calling for his stand.

In a flash Killer Queen materializes, fists at the ready. You really want to throw punches Marco?]

[Well, Marco only had the one punch in mind - even after Kira made it worse just now, he still doesn't really feel inclined to have a full-on fistfight.

Regardless, the sight of Killer Queen prompts Marco to return his raised, clenched fist right to his side.]

... You shouldn't have done that.

[Kira rubs his jaw, making no move to do anything yet.]

I didn't do anything. Are you upset about Fiddleford? Then you should go speak with Mitsuhide when he's done being dead.

Oh. [The very mention of that priest's name causes Kira to snarl and Killer Queen moves into a far more aggressive stance at the anger of its master.]

You know who shouldn't have done something? Fiddleford shouldn't have mentioned my name to a Fog Conduit. A conduit who openly admitted to being one! His actions got an actual conduit killed. That being me. His carelessness and whining jeopardized what was trying to be accomplished here!

Maybe you priests should get off your high horse. I was told I didn't belong here but who was picked to represent the Fourth's ideals? It was me. And Lucius. People who actually know that the Fourth God is and relish in his destruction of this God awful place. You should have come here apologizing to me for Fiddleford's actions and apologizing to the Fourth for nearly ruining everything he worked for. We're still lucky we got a victory, no thanks to one of our dear priests.

[It's almost too much. Too much he wants to argue against all at once, and it's difficult to get all his thoughts in an orderly line and go through them one at a time. For a few seconds, he might look like he's paralyzed - stiff with fury - but then, with some hesitation, he points a finger to Kira's chest.]

You shouldn't have mentioned his name to just about everybody who asked-- And Lorraine! God, Lorraine, poor Lorraine, she doesn't deserve to get involved in any of this!

[He stops, breathes, almost as if that brief display of emotion was exhausting.]

It's not-- It's not about destruction. You're misunderstanding. It's cleansing. Purification.

If Fiddleford didn't want to be mentioned then he shouldn't privately message me stating he's a fourth priest and that I don't belong in your little private cult. I do belong here. Because I was picked to carry out the will of the Fourth God, and I would have succeeded and given us an even greater win over the Fog. But he's so wound up in his false believes that he got me killed, an important conduit and nearly cost us a victory. Is that how you priests should be behaving?

[Kira isn't backing down nor putting his stand away. If Marco is going to swing again he's going to get something very nasty in return. But the comment that it's he that is misunderstanding does pull a bark of a laugh out of Kira. Really? Really? That's what we're going to call this? How hard do you have to cover your ears and eyes to believe that?]

Purification? Do you really believe what you're saying? This isn't purification. This isn't what purification looks like! This is destruction and decay! This is rot. This is turning this hell of a peninsula into an actual hell. If this is what purification looks like to you then I'd hate to see what the opposite looks to you. Marco, how twisted are the wires in your head that you see this as anything but what it actually is?

[Marco, to Kira, is a fool. An idiot really. And that's fine. If the priests want to believe all the whispers the Fourth God tells them, they're certainly free to. He on the other hand? Oh, he'll be whispering his own words the the Fourth God. He is right and everyone else is wrong. That's no different than the normal every day to day, if we're to be honest. But he, Kira Yoshikage, will go out of his way to prove it if it's the last thing he does.]

[He has no intention of striking Kira again - at least not here or now - but it might almost look like he wants to, just from the way he's looking at him.

But not quite. Because, behind the indignation in Marco's eyes when Kira says those particular words, there's also fear and a quiet desperation.]

Don't-- Don't say that. I'm not crazy. Don't call me crazy, Kira.

[There it is.]

If you don't want me to call you crazy, dear Marco, then stop acting like it.

[There is a very particular sort of stabbing, twisting pain, Marco finds, that comes when a man who kills women for their hands calls you crazy - even more than the pain that came when he called him a serial killer, just like him.]

I'm not crazy. Stop it. You have no right to say that to me.

[Kira offers a wicked sharp toothed smile. Marco has made it all too obvious that he doesn't like this so why would Kira stop? After this man came in here all self righteous and hit him? Oh no no...

He's going to say whatever he likes. Especially when it's the truth.]

If you don't like it... then leave. But I do in fact have every right to say what I say to you. I know what I am. I'm not pretending to be something I am not. I accept the kind of person I am and I am happier for it. Perhaps if you accept that you're off the metaphorical rails you might be too.

[On one hand, frustration and anger are welling up within Marco; after all that's happened, nothing has changed. If anything, it just keeps getting worse, as it becomes increasingly clear that his dream of helping Kira was never meant to be anything more than that.

On the other hand, an errant thought - one that's crossed his mind before, in passing - interferes:

Even if you aren't just like Mitsuhide, wouldn't it be easier if you WERE?

It feels like it knocks the air right out of his lungs, and it's a little while longer before he gets any back in him to respond.]

You... You're not... You're gone. E-Elias showed me what He did for a reason, I know He did, but-- But there's no reaching out to that little kid anymore, is there? You don't want him. He's gone. You're gone.

Gone...? [It's a confusing series of statements. He wishes he could remember all the things that happened in the dreamscape a little better. That small child seemed to have really muddled the water on all accounts.

But he at least remembers enough about the museum in his head to answer this. Or, he thinks he can.]

The child... the child is the past. He resides in a museum of forgotten things. Some things are forcibly forgotten and some of my choosing. That child that you met, that everyone met and loved so dearly does not exist inside Kira Yoshikage anymore. He's a forgotten thought of things that once were. Fears and insecurities and innocence that I have removed from my person because I do not need them or want them.

The man I am now and the child that was are two forces that cannot coexist. When they do... the collapse... and that is why I was asleep for so long.

You're trying so hard to do something that does not need to be done. Fix or save... I cannot decide but I know it cannot be done. I am not a machine. You can't rewire me and hope for the results you want. I am me, Kira Yoshikage, and this is who I am. It cannot be changed... at least not by your methods, whatever they may be.

What you fail to understand is that while you may not like the person I am, I do! I love the man I am and I relish in all the things that I do. It took a long time but I am completely happy with how I am. I enjoy what I enjoy and I accept myself for them. Perhaps you should learn to do the same when it comes to yourself and stop worrying so much about me. As far as I am concerned... I'm perfect. And it took a long time to feel that way about myself considering my enjoyments and what I do. But I succeeded... and you and all the rest are not about to make me feel differently.

I aim to be happy. Pretending or changing myself to appease the masses who refuse to understand me will not lead to a quiet and happy life. No, dear Marco, Kira Yoshikage is fine as he is.

I don't understand.

[It's a defeated whisper, said with his head hanging low.]

I don't understand... I don't... Have I missed something? H-Have I... Is there no way of...?

[And most importantly, it's not aimed at Kira.]

[Oh! Lucius. What a surprise. He's been wondering where his friend has been but since having not only failed at staying alive as a conduit and scraping with Fiddleford, which he was told not to do, Kira has been just attempting to keep his head down. For once.]

Greetings to you, Lucius. It's been far too long.

I've been well enough. Things have been quiet with everyone hunting for bones or whatever filthy thing they're doing underground. Needless to say it's been rather nice.

I haven't seen or heard from you in quite some time. Wrapped up in your metal working I take?

A bit of that, yes. Seeing as how that conduit business did not go well for me, you could say I've been needing to recuperate from the blow to my pride.

Unfortunate... but I would have to say the feeling is mutual in regards to failure.

I would try to take solace that despite our shortcomings the Fourth God did come out on top of the Fog Witch. I would prefer she had no corruption areas left but a victory is a victory. In a place like this you should take them when you can find them.

I wouldn't take it too hard. There was one of you and dozens of very bloodthirsty neutral parties and fog followers looking for us. There were even some treacherous fourth members... the odds were not exactly in our favor.

Yes, things were not nearly as in our favor as I suspected they were at the start. Being caught off-guard like that was

disappointing.

Particularly by the betrayals.
